What I'm Seeing in Argentina #2 🇦🇷
Champions of America, big positive mining news, major updates from the economic minister, and a must-visit, affordable Gaucho town close to Buenos Aires (CABA) for the Argentine enthusiasts (me).
The second newsletter is part of a regular update on news and events that interest me in Argentina, from a boots-on-the-ground Australian’s perspective.
Since I arrived in Argentina almost two years ago:
Argentina won the World Cup.
Argentina voted in a libertarian president, Javier Milei.
Argentina approved a scheme that puts them (almost) on par with successful export economies, especially in the mining sector.
Argentina won the Copa América (last night), and I didn’t get to bed until 3 a.m. (they’re a bloody passionate bunch 🍷).
They seem to be literally kicking goals since I arrived. They just need to fix the inflation issue, which Milei is addressing, and ensure he gains support in the 2025 midterm elections (it’s very important to eliminate the socialists from power here).
But, a lot has happened in the last week, with big news in the mining sector and some crazy moves with the currency (today). I’ll go through my thoughts and throw in a recommendation for a must-visit, easily accessible Gaucho town close to CABA (Buenos Aires City).
