What the hell I'm doing about tax & residency.
A tricky one I've avoided writing about for a while. Here is my tax and residency situation.
Tax accountants in Australia are useless outside of a basic return for the sheeple.
Even the so-called experts in capital gains regularly fuck-up tax returns.
Never forget they have zero liability.
My experience has been shockingly bad.
One year, they overlooked a whole heap of trades which majorly affected what I owed. I had to point out the errors for them to amend while copping their $550 tax return fee.
When I left Australia, I explored all the potential tax options I could go down.
Do I break ties with ATO (Australian Tax Office)? Do I seek tax residency elsewhere?
Taxes are even less fun when you position yourself to get lucky in the share market, and you get lucky.
But of course, that’s not a bad problem to have.
I’ve been living and travelling through Latin America for almost two years. In a nutshell, this is why I’m somewhat cornered with tax and residency.
